Slab Ecstasy

Slab Ecstasy

I had the opportunity to work with a beautiful old slab, which became the counter top for the front desk at the Maple Rose store in Nelson, BC. Janet, the owner of this Waldorf craft and supply shop, found the slab and was inspired to incorporate it into the newly renovated space on Baker Street.

The live edge of the slab fits well with the natural, organic look of both the shop and all of the wonderful art and educational supplies. It’s not often that I get to work with such a gorgeous large slab that will be so publicly viewed when finished. As the counter top was installed and all the renovations were being done, we had many passersby popping their heads in to check out what was happening. A downtown Nelson event! It was a fun project to work on.
